What is Respond?

Respond is a Chrome extension that helps amplify the voice of the Iranian people against regime propaganda on X (formerly Twitter). When you encounter posts from known regime propaganda accounts, the extension adds a "Respond" button that lets you quickly reply with a message of peace linking to persia.free.

Installation Guide

Download and Extract

Download the ZIP file above and extract it to a folder on your computer. Remember where you extract it — you'll need this location in step 3.

Tip: Extract to a permanent location like your Documents folder. Don't delete this folder after installation — Chrome needs it to run the extension.

Open Chrome Extensions

Open Google Chrome and navigate to the extensions page:

Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of Chrome
Go to Extensions → Manage Extensions
Or type chrome://extensions in the address bar

Enable Developer Mode

In the top-right corner of the extensions page, toggle on "Developer mode".

Why Developer Mode? Since this extension is not published on the Chrome Web Store, you need Developer mode to install it manually. This is safe and commonly used for custom extensions.

Load the Extension

Click "Load unpacked" button that appears after enabling Developer mode.

Navigate to where you extracted the ZIP file
Select the chrome-extension folder inside
Click "Select Folder" (or "Open" on Mac)

Important: Select the chrome-extension folder, not the parent folder. This folder contains the manifest.json file.

Start Using Respond

The extension is now installed! Pin it to your toolbar for easy access:

Click the puzzle piece icon (🧩) in Chrome's toolbar
Find "Respond" in the list
Click the pin icon (📌) to keep it visible

Now you're ready: Go to x.com, and posts from regime propaganda accounts will be marked with a red badge. Click "🕊️ Respond" to reply with a peace message.

Is this extension safe?

Yes. The extension only runs on x.com/twitter.com, doesn't collect any personal data, and all code is open for inspection in the downloaded ZIP file.

Why isn't it on the Chrome Web Store?

Publishing to the Chrome Web Store requires review and may be subject to restrictions. By distributing directly, we can update the extension faster and ensure it remains available.

Can I customize the messages?

For security reasons, messages cannot be customized. All messages link to persia.free to prevent misuse. The messages are updated remotely from our server.

How do I update the extension?

The propaganda account list and messages update automatically every 24 hours. For major extension updates, download the new ZIP and repeat the installation steps.

I see "This extension may have been corrupted"

This is a standard Chrome warning for extensions not from the Web Store. Click "Keep" or "Repair" to continue using the extension. It's safe.
